Governance is sometimes defined as the overall guidance, direction, oversight and
stewardship of the club. Regardless of what type or organisation you represent the principles of Governance remain much the same, with different emphasise dependent on whether there are paid staff or not.

This section outlines the roles and responsibilities of the Committee / Board and its members in carrying out their elected duties. Included are down-loadable samples and tools to assist.
Please note the terms Committee, Committee of Management and Board are interchangeable.
 Why Bother?

  • A well run organisation is attractive to new members
  • Good governance supports growth and development
  • Funding agencies, potential sponsors and government look favorably to well managed organisations
  • Good governance reduces the risks.
